The post-hardcore band is back in full force with ‘WIRED’
Basement is a British band from Suffolk that effortlessly combines post-hardcore, emo, grunge and alternative rock. Since their debut in 2009, they have become a cult favourite thanks to their mix of gritty guitars, compelling melodies, big choruses and emotional intensity.
Albums like Colourmeinkindness, Promise Everything and Beside Myself made them an established name on the international alternative guitar scene. After an eight-year writing hiatus, the five original band members are back with WIRED, their first album since 2018.
The album sounds familiar yet ambitious, with influences of R.E.M., Interpol, The Smashing Pumpkins and a raw production by John Congleton (St. Vincent). Meanwhile, their 2012 track Covet has been given an unexpected second lease of life thanks to TikTok, resulting in an entire new generation of fans.
