UM! (Umi Defoort) is a Brussels-based producer and musician with Japanese roots. Rooted in classical, jazz and hip-hop, he creates a unique, genre-transcending sound. His solo debut UM! was released in 2020, featuring contributions from the likes of Peet, Chibi Ichigo, Glints and Jazz Brak.

Although we have often seen Umi working with the likes of Chibi Ichigo in recent years (during  tours in Belgium, The Netherlands and Japan) and at numerous major festivals (with bands he works closely with), things have been somewhat quieter on the solo front.

Five years ago, he dropped a hip-hop album, but he’s taking a different approach now with the new album: "It will be an electronic album on which I also sing. Completely different from my first album, which featured a lot of guests and didn’t give me a chance to have my voice heard."
