Eritrean-Sudanese-Swiss duo with a groove-driven sound
From Grammy winner and P-Funk legend Bootsy Collins to Atlanta's rising rap superstar JID, and from James Blake to Erick The Architect... How does a relatively unknown Swiss group, led by sisters Jasmina and Nabyla Serag, manage to collaborate with such A-listers? It's all about authenticity and quality.
The Swiss band debuted anonymously in 2014 with a dance hit. Since then, Sirens Of Lesbos has released two albums and after a successful concert tour, the band will release their third album ‘i got a song, it's gonna make us millions’ in spring 2025. This new project showcases the band's broad musical range, inspired by artists such as Childish Gambino, Trick Daddy, Gangsta Boo, Dungeon Family and Goodie Mob. They combine influences from ‘90s British girl-pop, Afrobeats, electronic music and lo-fi indie pop acts.
As black women of the diaspora, Jasmina and Nabyla navigate between the collectivist Northeast African culture of their parents and the Western emphasis on individuality. Questions of identity have always been a central theme in their journey. Although society often demands clear definitions, the sisters have learned to embrace their multifaceted identities: ‘We have always been many different things.’
