Launch party for electro-funk crooner’s new EP
Pomrad, the alter-ego of singer, producer and keyboard virtuoso Adriaan Van de Velde, combines ‘80s fusion-funk, raw electro-dance and ‘90s rave grooves with fetching melodies and bass-driven pop music that is both dreamy and raw. He is also known as one half of the prolific Belgian live duo Lander & Adriaan.
In the electro-funk scene, he is best known for his dripping, sweaty funk and red-hot ballads. His energetic live-shows are both musically impressive and highly entertaining. He uses his craftsmanship as a trained jazz musician to play a battery of synths and samplers, in combination with strange dance moves, a sweet tenor voice and healthy dose of irony and humour.
On his latest album Silver Blue, Pomrad once again reinvents himself as a singer and combines funk, electro-dance and rave grooves into his own brand of cosmic crooners. The tracks on the album are largely expressions of longing and sadness. Each track tells a different story and uses a different metaphor for the deep melancholy longing for love, bliss and euphoria, that all seem to be unattainable, unless you flee or escape into the magical world that music can be.
Pomrad’s latest single Fairyland Frenzy is a light-hearted, post-album burst of pleasure (part of an upcoming EP), a playful and danceable successor that channels his signature funk grooves into pure joy. Expect lots of new music in the coming months and get ready for a very swinging launch party.
