Curated by in-house photographer Willem Mevis
This evening is curated by none other than Willem Mevis, AB’s house photographer. After two years behind the lens, he is handing over his camera to a successor and making his departure in style. This musical event also marks the opening of Willem’s exhibition: on the night itself, you will be able to see his photographs for the very first time at AB Connect, as well as during the following three days, from Friday through Sunday.
Willem: “Gaminconnu’s music resonates with my exhibition both conceptually and personally. Their atmospheric, experimental jazz sound has an intuitive and youthful quality that beautifully echoes the way I experience my images.”
“A few years ago, I met Ewout Janssens (Gaminconnu) in Brussels, and ever since, we have continued to follow each other’s artistic journeys. It is therefore with great pleasure that we can present our projects together at the vernissage.”
Gaminconnu is the solo project of Ewout Janssens (IKRAAAN, Mia Lena, LeBlanc). Inspired by Radiohead, Nils Frahm, Daft Punk, James Blake, Ludovico Einaudi and others, Gaminconnu creates an amalgam of genres and influences, seeking to give shape to universal human emotions and questions. It is a search for meaning and purpose carried by cinematic, profound melodies. Currently based in Brussels, Gaminconnu is working on his debut EP. Live, he is joined by an all-Brussels all-star line-up featuring Sam Gélis on bass, Thomas Dimmers on drums and Noah Gossiaux on saxophone.
This event is part of BRDCST, connecting idiosyncratic artists with inquisitive listeners. Discover music that grates, surprises and stays with you.
