Brussels indie jazz pop combo presents new album
Brussels-based Bombataz is not to be taken for granted. At their own discretion, these four musical all-rounders pick elements from many musical genres, jazz, danceable funk, synth hop,... in order to obtain a cocktail that is always equally danceable and groovy. Bombataz came into being when conservatory students Vitja Pauwels (guitar, voice), Hendrik Lasure (keys), Ruben De Maesschalck (bass) and Casper Van De Velde (drums) discovered that their common love for music was not limited to jazz but crosses broadly over genres and tastes. On their debut album "Olympics of Love," released in 2020, the band emerged as a full-blooded pop band. The album was inspired by bands such as Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Ambitious Lovers and Connan Mockasin. On their second album - "Baby Dry My Tears" (release scheduled in Sept. '23), Brussels-based post-jazz pop quartet Bombataz eagerly tackles eclectic indie rock. They channel the spirit of, say, Animal Collective, MGMT and other groovy funkiness and melt it into compelling musical chunks. The album is often dramatic or languorous, but always contrary and without the tendency to please by doing what you think you want to hear but telling you how it should be done.
