Win a duoticket for Gondwana 10 presents STUFF. + Portico Quartet + … on April 27 in AB. This competition ends wednesday April 17.
GONDWANA RECORDS
Founded in 2008, by Manchester-based trumpeter, composer and producer Matthew Halsall, Gondwana Records, turned 10 last year. Originally founded to shine a light on the Manchester scene, Gondwana Records is one of the UKs most influential jazz (and beyond) record labels, launching GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Mammal Hands, Dwight Trible, Nat Birchall, Noya Rao, Phil France, John Ellis and recently our national heroes STUFF. His territory is the world and jazz is where it all starts.
GONDWANA 10
The label will let perform great artists following its 10-year anniversary (27-4). They already performed in sold-out halls in London (Roundhouse), Manchester, Tokyo and Berlin. Up next? The amazing AB in Brussels, which is according to the label ‘one of our favourite venues’. With those sweet words, how can we refuse? and above all, our love is unconditionally for their label.
GONDWANA 10 @ AB
In the main hall, local heroes STUFF. (who are released internationally by NEWS/Gondwana) headline, alongside performances from wide-screen minimalists Portico Quartet, sublime spiritual jazz from Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra and a debut for former Cinematic Orchestra bassist Phil France, performing his own subtle, ever evolving -compositions. Meanwhile in the club you can check out, powerful electro-soul outfit Noya Rao from Leeds and Gondwana’s latest signings, Polish piano sensation Hania Rani performing compositions inspired by Icelandic landscapes and the Polish Bieszczady mountains and Sunda Arc whose unique hybrid of electronic and acoustic instruments will get you dancing.
This event is co-hosted by Flagey.
