Over the past two decades, the Flemish rap scene has produced more than its fair share of memorable generations, and Eigen Makelij has played a key role in many of them. The Antwerp-based label helped launch the careers of artists such as Tourist LeMC, Safi & Spreej and Yong Yello.
Since 2025, the legendary label has returned after a period away from the spotlight and is committed to supporting a new generation of Flemish hip hop artists, far beyond Antwerp’s city limits. It was only natural that, for its takeover of the Rapsalon programme, Eigen Makelij would take us on a musical journey across Flanders and its five provinces.
Meet the six champions set to represent their home turf with pride:
Brussels: MATY
Whether performing with the collective BRUX or as a solo artist, MATY is part of a new generation of young Brussels talents who have been making serious noise lately. Expect plenty of energy when he hits the stage.
Antwerp: RonnyHuana
RonnyHuana’s sound feels like it was born in a dark attic. Relentless beats, dark lyricism and a distinctive voice quickly earned him legendary status within Flemish rap. You may already know him from his many mixtapes or collaborations with Berry, ZG, $KEER&BOO$, and others.
Mechelen (and so technically also Antwerp Province): SAFI
This Mechelen O.G. is impossible to leave out of Belgian rap history. Breaking through to a wider audience at a young age, he remains one of the scene’s most skilled, versatile and prolific artists.
West Flanders: LOW G
The finest MC from Kortrijk and beyond. Known for his hard-hitting beats, razor-sharp flows and proudly West Flemish identity. He recently dropped another powerhouse album and has collaborated with many of the game’s heavyweights.
East Flanders: DON TIBEAU
Ghent’s DON TIBEAU clearly has a lot to say. Over the past few years, he has released several albums that, in our view, have flown far too far under the radar. His pen is sharp, his flow is versatile, and Rapsalon will host his very first live show.
Limburg: DMG$
The DIRTYMINDEDGOON$ crew represents a new generation of artists emerging from Limburg. With sharp flows and dusty boombap beats, they are guaranteed to bring plenty of stank faces to the crowd.
