Presentation of intense and fragile piano album
Belgian musician Bram Devens returns as his intriguing alter ego Ignatz to present new album I Don’t Know. On this release, Devens’ sound shifts toward an even more refined form in which the piano forms the beating heart of every composition.
Expect an intimate, understated piano performance rooted in folk, yet morphed into something fragile and slightly disjointed. Improvisation and spontaneity remain crucial: melodies emerge, fade and intertwine in subtle loops. His voice, fragile and distant, floats through the tracks like an echo from within.
Influences from The Velvet Underground and Henry Flynt remain palpable, but take on a new form here. Following on from his work with De Stervende Honden, Devens returns to the essence of his solo work, now with the piano as central voice.
