◄◄ REWIND
In 2007, AB launched a timeless series: ◄◄ REWIND. Central this series are Belgian artists who perform their “classic”. Call it a milestone in their career, or what’s more: a key album in Belgian pop music. It is often – but not always – about albums that are etched into collective memory. Call them points of reference in the Belgian music landscape. So each “pièce de résistance” is performed in its entirety. Completely? That’s right, in the exact order that the artist wanted (or still wants) to tell his/her tale.
But Madou XL!? Madou surely doesn’t lie in Elsene, alias Ixelles? Sorry, a bit of Brussels BS there.
But seriously now: Madou will perform their moving Belpop debut (from 1982) in its entirety on stage in AB. On 16 September, forty years later, they finally also re-release it on vinyl (with that delightful artwork). Already available in pre-order via www.blprecords.be. Additionally, or after, there is of course their latest successor ‘Is er iets?’: yet another reason to cherish them, from here to beyond Ronquières.
“XL” here refers to “Extra Large”: more bells, whistles and horns.
Meanwhile, Madou is still proud frontwoman Vera Coomans and Wiet Van de Leest, plus “sons of” Thomas Devos and Louis Van de Leest.
Enough reading, soon to be experienced live!
