Fearless blend of Arabic traditions with free jazz, noise, and avant-rock

Egyptian artist Maurice Louca is one of the most singular voices of the Arabic experimental scene, with projecten such as The Dwarfs of East Agouza, Lekhfa and Elephantine. His work slips smoothly between psychedelic rock, free improvisation, electronica and North African rhythms. This has already led to collaborations with a wide range of musicians from Cairo, Beirut, Europe and beyond (Nadah El-Shazly, Mazen Kerbaj, Burkhard Beins....)
Louca’s latest album Fera (2025) is a raw, pulsing journey full of elusive melodies and repetitive, hypnotic structures. It may well be his most filmic and intuitive work to date.
For this concert at AB Salon, Louca will perform live in duo with violin player Ayman Asfour, a trusted partner in his musical universe. Expect a set that tacks between meticulous texture and explosive improvisation.
