Acoustic virtuosity, free improvisation and captivating soundscapes
ConcertWith Finn Loxbo, AB welcomes one of the most distinctive voices on the contemporary Swedish improvisation scene.
The Stockholm-based guitarist moves effortlessly between two extremes: understated, acoustic soundscapes and relentless sonic outbursts. As a solo artist, but also through projects such as Kommun, Skogen, Kyosaku and Anna Högberg Extended Attack, he has developed a unique musical language in which free improvisation, composition and experimentation constantly merge.
On his recent solo album “Lummernikt” (released on John Chantler’s Fönstret label), Loxbo resolutely opts for the acoustic guitar. With astonishing technique, unusual playing styles and a keen sense of form, he creates music that sounds at once organic, hypnotic and surprisingly accessible. The British music magazine *The Quietus* named the record ‘Album of the Week’ and praised the way in which Loxbo transforms free improvisation into something exceptionally refined and poetic.
Don’t expect a traditional guitar recital, but rather a captivating listening experience in which every note is born in the moment.
‘one of the year’s most entrancing acoustic guitar albums, weaving together glimmering melodic fragments and fleet fingerpicking with an avant-garde approach to timbre and resonance.’ The Wire, Oct 2026
