London's finest post-punk band presents new album
South London post-punk band Dry Cleaning will release their third album in January 2026: Secret Love, on the renowned 4AD label. The follow-up to New Long Leg (2021) and Stumpwork (2022) came about in the rehearsal room, where all four band members wrote, played and directly responded to each other.
The album developed further during inspiring sessions at Wilco’s studio The Loft, in Chicago, and during recordings with Alan Duggan and Daniel Fox of Gilla Band in Dublin. The last recordings took place with Cate Le Bon at Black Box studio in France. They went so well that the band pretty soon decided to continue with her as producer, mainly due to her unbridled positivity and open attitude. Le Bon has previously produced albums by Deerhunter, Devendra Banhart, Wilco and Horsegirl.
Live, Dry Cleaning is a hypnotic mix of spoken word and an intense post-punk sound. Florence Shaw delivers her lyrics with a calm, detached voice that forms a strong contrast to the band’s tight, rhythmic energy. The music builds up and relaxes in waves, driven by sharp guitar sounds and deep, muscular basslines. The result is a show that feels both cerebral and physical, more an artwork than a classic rock concert.
