Jazz trio presents 'What Eludes Us'
20:00 > ORSON CLAEYS
Classically trained pianist who claims to have been influenced by Aaron Parks, Ambrose Akinmusire, Shai Maestro, Dhafer Youssef, and Wolfgang Muthspiel and all of this translated into a contemporary jazz sound palette. Lefto also selected him for a track on his 'Jazz Cats' collection and suddenly belongs to the Sdban family (see also: De Beren Gieren, Echt!, Schroothoop,...).
21:00 > DE BEREN GIEREN
Two and a half years after their highly acclaimed last release Less Is Endless, De Beren Gieren have finished a seventh full album. What Eludes Us is an ode to what escapes us and what we intentionally turn a blind eye to.
For this new album the band sought out the unimaginable beauty of the Norwegian fjords by creeping into a dusty recording studio in Bergen harbour. The band did so together with the celebrated and mysterious producer Jørgen Træen (see: Jaga Jazzist, amongst others), who discreetly guarded the imperfections and interruptions, serving as a guiding force behind the adept interplay of the electro-acoustic jazz trio.
The result turned out to be compelling music with entrancing rhythms, clean melodies and uninhibited electronica in a way that surprised even themselves. How did that suddenly happen?
What Eludes Us will be out on 29 March 2024 via Sdban Ultra.
