Two and a half years after their highly acclaimed last release Less Is Endless, De Beren Gieren have finished a seventh full album. What Eludes Us is an ode to what escapes us and what we intentionally turn a blind eye to.
For this new album the band sought out the unimaginable beauty of the Norwegian fjords by creeping into a dusty recording studio in Bergen harbour. The band did so together with the celebrated and mysterious producer Jørgen Træen (see: Jaga Jazzist, amongst others), who discreetly guarded the imperfections and interruptions, serving as a guiding force behind the adept interplay of the electro-acoustic jazz trio.
The result turned out to be compelling music with entrancing rhythms, clean melodies and uninhibited electronica in a way that surprised even themselves.
They are presenting their new album in AB on Sunday 14 April. Buy your ticket!
The press is already very enthusiastic:
- ★★★★☆ ‘Kinderlijke energie en speels surrealisme dribbelen op What Eludes Us.’ – De Morgen
- ★★★★☆ ‘What eludes us boeit net als de zes vorige albums van De Beren Gieren van begin tot einde.’
