After a hiatus of several years, on 1 March 2024 Amatorski will release Curves and Bends, Things Veer. The new album will be out on Crammed Discs and was named after Timothy Morton’s book All Art is Ecological.

On Curves and Bends, Things Veer, Amatorski shifts the focus from interpersonal relationships to investigating the relationship between humans and nature, time and phenomena, inspired by Taoist poetry (translated by Ursula K. Le Guin) and the work of Anna Tsing and others. Recent events such as the pandemic, climate change and the Black Lives Matters protests in 2020 also influenced the process of making the album too.

For the live shows, visual artist Winnie Claessens created miniature installations whereby (natural) objects, materials or textures are used. In collaboration with Lucas Van Haesbroeck, a scenography was developed with the installations, cameras and projections.

In this way, the live performance explores the album spatially and uniquely depicts the exploration between humans, nature, technology and phenomena, intertwined in Amatorski’s music.

Just before the start of Amatorski's performance, field recordings will be played, recorded by Inne Eysermans, from several gardens including the community garden 'Samentuin Bretel' in Borgerhout, Gesamthof / a lesbian garden by Eline Declercq, Inne's parents' garden, Derek Jarman's garden in Dungeness, and the volunteer-managed food forest 'Boskruit' in Deurne. This ongoing project focuses on 'the garden' within a vast sounding landscape and explores various forms of engagement with nature in the space surrounding the garden, and pays attention to the influence a garden creates in the surrounding environment and on communities.
