Sound Track is a music contest organised by music hub VI.BE for up-and-coming bands, where the search for untapped musical talent takes place per province.
‘Yet another music competition?’ Not just any competition! Sound Track distinguishes itself in two ways from other well-known music contests. First and foremost, the contest is organised together with the entire live sector. Think: Clubcircuit, Ancienne Belgique, Entree, Cactus Muziekcentrum, Het Depot, AFF, music club N9, Trix, De Casino, Democrazy, De Zwerver, Het Entrepot, Wilde Westen and Music Club 4AD.
And the most valuable difference? At Sound Track, the winners also receive customised support after the competition.
In search of tomorrow’s sound
Perform a lot, that’s the key element of becoming a good live band. And so the selected bands get heaps of opportunities to play.
The pre-selections take place in prominent music venues and youth clubs. Each band/artist gets the chance to prove themselves there live. For the audience, it’s a prime opportunity to see the most promising bands, singer-songwriters, MCs, producers and solo-acts of the moment at work live.
Then there are six regional finals on the biggest stages. For these, the finalists are prepared with artistic coaching and a professional P.A. rehearsal.
The laureates who are finally selected receive a considerable prize: a year’s worth of personal guidance, coaching and support from the wider music sector, residences at the music clubs, recording time in professional studios, national exposure to foreign showcases and shows. Quite different to other contests, didn’t we say so?
