It was 2025 curator Colin Stetson who, during the previous edition of BRDCST, brought British actress and performer Keeley Forsyth to our attention.
In Spite Magazine compared her impressive performance to David Byrne’s American Utopia on Broadway. Forsyth is also referred to as the female Scott Walker, and The Line Of Best Fit labelled her “one of the UK's most consistently interesting and creatively absorbing performers.” This is Forsyth’s first-ever curatorship and we’re so happy that she graciously accepted the offer after her stunning show during BRDCST 2025.
Rainy Miller: Northern Gothic in avant-garde form
Rainy Miller – real name Jack Bowes – created one of the finest albums of 2025. Joseph, What Have You Done? was released on Miller's own label, Fixed Abode, where he offers a roof to kindred spirits like Blackhaine – scarily impressive during the previous edition of BRDCST - and Iceboy Violet.
He describes his aesthetic as Northern Gothic, and his shows: “The shows for me are always going to be exactly what I need them for, they are hour-long periods of just, explosive self-expression, in order to actually extrapolate all of the physical and emotional reactivity to those memories I’ve made the music about.”
Kukuruz Quartet plays Julius Eastman
The Swiss Kukuruz Quartet was formed in 2014 and musically straddles the boundary between classical music, jazz and improvisation. A defining moment in their career was their performance in 2017 at the 14th edition of the leading international art exhibition documenta. Kukuruz (loosely translated as ‘corn’) Quartet played Julius Eastman's compositions Evil N****r, Gay Guerrilla, Buddha and Fugue no. 7 on four grand pianos. The result was a standing ovation.
This in turn resulted in the 2018 album Julius Eastman Piano Interpretations, which was named Best Classical Album by the Boston Globe and Album of the Year 2018 by New York City Jazz Records.
For the first time in history – thank you, curator Keeley Forsyth! – Eastman's compositions Evil N****r and Gay Guerrilla will be heard within the walls of AB.
