On 5 October, The Afghan Whigs will be celebrating their 40th anniversary at AB. With their new album Soft Control, they’ve proved that their blend of gritty grunge, soulful rock, R&B and a healthy dose of drama has lost none of its power. Led by frontman Greg Dulli, the band are back with renewed vigour and will be bringing Ed Harcourt along as a special guest.
Courtney Barnett Thu 8 Oct
Next up, on 8 October, is Courtney Barnett. The Australian singer-songwriter will be coming to AB to present her brand-new album Creature of Habit. Her sharp observations, wry humour and catchy indie rock songs, full of compelling guitar riffs, have made her one of the most recognisable voices of her generation. Her UK tour sold out in no time, so don’t leave it too long to get your tickets.
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy Tue 10 Nov
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, the alter ego of American singer-songwriter and indie icon Will Oldham, is coming to AB on 10 November with his new album We Are Together Again – his most personal to date. Oldham looks for solid ground in a changing world, and finds it in collaboration, friendship, community and making music. This will be an intense set, featuring new songs alongside older material.
Horace Andy & Dub Asante Band Thu 17 Dec
Reggae singer Horace ‘Sleepy’ Andy is turning 75, and we’re celebrating with a proper dub party. Naturally, the birthday boy himself is the guest of honour, alongside his inseparable Dub Asante Band, but Matic Horns, Youth and Roots Warriors will be there too. A legendary voice and an unrivalled presence – on stage at AB on 17 December.
