In recent years, post-punk has become more popular than ever. And that’s clearly reflected in AB’s programming, with a solid lineup of punk bands set to take our stage in the coming months.
Post-punk bands deliver more than just sharp guitars and driving rhythms—they also bring socially critical messages. Bands like Idles and Fontaines D.C. preach positivity and community, rather than the “no future” nihilism of early punk bands like the Sex Pistols.

MON 8 DEC Lambrini Girls
Lambrini Girls are the fearless riot grrrls who’ve been shaking up the music scene for a while now. This ferocious punk duo from Brighton delivers a thunderous sound that refuses to compromise. In doing so, they ruthlessly expose the raw nerves of society. Their razor-sharp lyrics, laced with dark humour and provocation, hit hard and leave no one unmoved. They draw inspiration from bands like Savages, Le Tigre, and Bikini Kill. Expect a show bursting with raw energy, rebellion, and a big middle finger to the status quo.
In 2024, Lambrini Girls opened for IDLES — and none other than Iggy Pop is a fan.
Pitchfork on their debut album ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’:
"Throughout Who Let the Dogs Out, Lambrini Girls strive to maintain autonomy in a corrupt industry and capitalist country without sacrificing their right to a good time, playing like they have a guitar in one hand and a sloshing pint in the other.
Opener “Bad Apple,” a searing takedown of police corruption, cues up a rapidfire BPM, blown-out bass, and caffeinated guitar shredding that lends heft to a serious topic; the track was spurred by the 2021 murder of Sarah Everard by a Metropolitan Police officer, and took years to formulate with the correct tone. "
TUE 13 MAY The Murder Capital
In 2019, Irish band The Murder Capital stormed onto the music scene with their dark post-punk sound. Their debut album When I Have Fears made an immediate impact and set the bar high for the notoriously difficult second record. With Gigi’s Recovery, the band decided to take a completely different direction. The raw post-punk edge was toned down to make way for a more polished version of their sound.
This May, the Irishmen will present their third album Blindness at AB.
"The Murder Capital are gracing us with their third studio album Blindness on Human Season Records. This may be their best record yet. Combining post-punk, alternative rock, and a smattering of indie pop sensibility, Blindness creates an atmosphere of nostalgia and emotional density."- New Noise Magazine
SUN 11 MAY Heavy Lungs
Heavy Lungs is a British post-punk band from Bristol, formed in 2017. Their sound – with blazing riffs, ferocious drums and the hefty vocals of their charismatic frontman Danny Nedelko – fits perfectly into the new wave of British punk. Heavy Lungs has close ties with IDLES, which even named a song after Nedelko. Very cool.
THU 1 MAY Bambara
Nocturnal, modernist post-punk from Brooklyn, NY.
Bambara delivers a brand of post-punk that echoes the ominous intensity of Swans, fused with the misanthropic depravity of The Birthday Party.
‘Engrossing, dark and irresistible,….an adventurous group, who just keep getting better all the time. Bambara remain a genuine force.’ Clash Magazine
SAT 26 APR Viagra Boys
Raw and dirty punk from Sweden!
The Swedish band is heading to Brussels to shake AB to its very foundations with their gritty post-punk. See you in the mosh pit for a night that’s already carving out a place in our collective memory.
