Ancienne Belgique is a vibrant music temple in the heart of Brussels with a passion for young talent and established names. Niche and mainstream. Adventurous and genre-transcending. Through some 400 concerts and projects per year, we do our best to give more than 300,000 visitors an unforgettable experience.
All this is managed by a motivated team of some 65 permanent staff. To strengthen the production team we are looking for a ‘Production Manager Talent & Community’.
Job Description
Operations at AB are evolving. AB is gradually morphing from a concert venue into a house of music: a place that breaths music not only in the evening but the whole day through. In the spring of 2026, a brand new building will open in the Steenstraat, one containing a small concert room, community space, meeting rooms and a roof terrace. As Production Manager Talent & Community you will participate in the inception of a new AB story that fully focuses on young people, local artists and community building. You will start working several months prior to the opening of the new building, and – together with the production team, artistic team and B2B team – you will work out all the details in preparation for this new operation.
Assignment
- You bear ultimate responsibility for the smooth running of a wide range of activities and projects: artist residences, workshops, concerts, film and book launches, B2B events, …
- You gather all the practical, technical and logistical information. You take the time to properly understand the requests of the artistic team, external partners or artists, and you seek out suitable bespoke solutions.
- You create a clear planning and maintain oversight. You are a pivotal figure in the collaboration between the various AB teams: hospitality, production, B2B, programming and security.
- For smaller-scale activities, you are responsible for the technical follow-up, including the operation of lighting and sound. You will be supported in this by the AB audio and light team.
- You ensure a warm welcome and are the central point of contact for musicians, collectives and organisations.
- You provide a clear briefing and planning of the casual staff (freelancer, student, volunteer) and supervise them during activities. You motivate them so that every visitor feels welcome.
- Together with the security & hospitality manager, you ensure that activities run safely. You monitor the safe and correct use of materials, products and procedures.
Profile
- You are a strong organiser with several years of experience in a similar position.
- You have a heart for Brussels, music and AB in particular.
- You work proactively, hands on and solution oriented. You are stress resistant and know how to organise your work independently. During activities, you are a tower of strength.
- You are energized by planning, creating structure and tackling unforeseen issues. At the same time, you are able to leave room for the experimental character of participatory projects.
- You have a feel for what is going on in youth and musical communities in Brussels. You can relate to their world and way of working.
- You are committed to positive and inclusive communication, with colleagues as well as with volunteers, artists and audiences. You can express yourself fluently in Dutch, French and English.
- You have at least a basic level technical knowledge (light, sound, backline, electricity,..) or are prepared to acquire it within a short period of time.
- You have a type B drivers licence.
- You can express yourself fluently in Dutch, French and English.
- You are happy to work evenings and in the weekend.
Offer
- A full-time contract of permanent employment.
- Reimbursement of public transport to and from work, meal vouchers, group- and hospitalisation-insurance, 13th month, year-end bonus and numerous fringe benefits.
- Extensive training opportunities.
- A challenging job, lots of music, and great colleagues.
