Disco, cold wave and krautrock galore!
ConcertBenjamin Bouton (guitar, synths, percussion, FX), Kevin Toublant (bass guitar, Moog, FX) and Matt Kelly (drums, percussion) found each other by jamming in a studio in North London. They clicked instantly because they share a mutual love for nervous 70s no wave, post-punk and disco.
Their first (self-published) EP Pax got noticed by none other than Gilles Peterson. Later they released a nameless album through Ninja Tune, featuring a combination of live instruments and electronica. Their trademark soon became cold disco, krautrock, New York noise and early 2000s electro.
Their latest release Behavioural Sink Delirium was recorded and produced by
Eddie Stevens (Zero7, Moloko, Róisín Murphy) in his Fulham studio, without too much fluff: “We locked ourselves away for 10 days and recorded 30 hours of music, all played live in one room. We only edited in order to create arrangements.”
You’ll hear the result of that experiment this Summer. It will sound techno-dystopian, freaky and funky. MadMadMad’s live sets are always loopy, strange and beaming with energy. Start polishing those nervous dancing shoes!
