Cinematic, melancholic and surprisingly intense
For almost twenty years, Trentemøller has been building a musical universe that feels at once cinematic, melancholic and surprisingly intense. His work moves effortlessly between electronica, post-punk, shoegaze and darkwave, and often sounds as though it were made especially for night-time drives, empty city streets or a film playing out somewhere just off-screen.
Since his breakthrough with The Last Resort, he has grown into an artist who has breathed new life into electronic music. Starting out in the minimal techno scene, his sound evolved towards a richer band sound featuring distorted guitars, analogue synths and melodies that linger in the mind. With Dreamweaver (2024), he took that approach further: an album that was internationally acclaimed for its cinematic atmosphere and warm layering within his typically dark soundscape.
Live, his compositions take on an extra dimension. Together with his regular band, Trentemøller translates his studio work into dynamic and organic concerts in which dreamy passages and powerful outbursts alternate. His performances at Ancienne Belgique have, in recent years, become a benchmark for those who like to experience electronic music as just that little bit bigger, more expansive and more immersive than expected.
