Ragini Trio explores the space between jazz and Indian classical music.
This trio of musicians met in the jazz clubs of Brussels through their shared fascination for improvisation and Indian music. Over the past fifteen years, they released two albums as Ragini Trio, the second of which, Peace The New Jazz (2019), was with French-Servian piano virtuoso Bojan Z and classical Indian vocalist Sawani Mudgal. After that, they all went their own way. Now, the three of them present – who’d have guessed – their third album.
The triumvirate consists of Nathan Daems on saxophone, Lander Gyselinck on drums and Marco Bardoscia on double bass. Daems is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, known from Black Flower, Echoes Of Zoo and countless international collaborations with the likes of Ibrahim Maalouf, The Gaslamp Killer and Theodosii Spassov.
Gyselinck is a three-time MIA winner in the Best Musician category, now Doctor of Arts and one of the most innovative drummers of his generation. He moves effortlessly between jazz, hip-hop and electronica. With projects like STUFF., Lander & Adriaan, LABtrio and BeraadGeslagen, he has made a significant mark on the Belgian music scene.
As well as being a renowned band leader, Bardoscia is also one of Italy’s most sought-after double bass players, known for his work with Paolo Fresu, among others.
(Noteable achievement: Lander Gyselinck can safely consider April 2026 his AB month. Along with his crucial role in Ragini Trio, he will also present the brand new album Spam vol. 2 with KVR, his trio involving Dries Laheye and Niels Broos. Lastly, there is the dance performance Figures of Speech, created together with his sister Femke Gyselinck.)
