Dutch-language rap with honest tales about family, roots and self-love
Born and raised in Amsterdam’s Bijlmer and a member of the influential SMIB collective, Nnelg is known for his ability to connect disparate worlds through his music.
With influences from Ghanese gospel, hip-hop and soul, he knows how to reach people without shouting. His project Rijkdom (Wealth), solidly produced by p.Ape, has Nnelg redefining what it means to be rich. The focus is not on material display, but rather the value of being a father, love, freedom and creativity.
An inattentive listener might think that we are dealing with yet another rapper talking about his desire for money, but those who stay for the last song and check out Rijkdom, will hear what Nnelg is really about.
The tour is framed by the fictional Hotel Rijkdom: an absurdist setting in which the audience checks in and is taken on a journey through various rooms and floors of meaning. That world translates live into a compelling show in which music, storytelling and imagery converge.
Expect new tracks like Habibti and Bodybuilder, favourites from his earlier work, and a live experience in which five stars is the new norm. Check in at Hotel Rijkdom and discover: you may already be richer than you think.
