Thé return of thé jazz bass & live funk virtuoso
"Marcus has such concentration in the studio, man, it’s scary!” These are the words of Miles Davis, one of the greatest jazz artists ever. The Marcus in question? Multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, arranger, songwriter and – maybe most of all – legendary bassist Marcus Miller.
His first feat was at the age of sixteen and, almost fifty years later, the musician is seen as one of the greats, one of the living legends. He is the reason why Tutu by Miles Davis sounds the way it does. He is the main writer of the greatest hits of Luther Vandross. And he was requested as bassist by Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Bill Withers, Jean-Michel Jarre, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton and Beyoncé – the list is endless.
As if that track record wasn’t enough, he also found the time to release fifty or so solo albums, compose quite a bit of film music and en cours de route also win two – it should have been more - Grammy Awards.
Just to say: Marcus Miller is a force of nature, a musical genius with a relentless work ethic and unbridled creative capacity. But, above all, he is a musician who loves being on a stage, believes in the power of music, and wants to give people a good night out. He does that best with a mix of jazz, funk, and R&B. Only good ingredients, that will undoubtedly lead to an explosive show!
