A Late Night Show with Vula Viel

Facebook event Share Tweet

West-Ghanaian rhythms, minimalism, post-punk and jazz all in one!

Please note: this concert is freely accessibly for those attending the Avishai Cohen Big Vicious and Binker Golding's Band concert.

‘Dance to it! Make love to it!’ declared Iggy Pop after hearing the post-punk infected West-Ghanaian rhythms of Vula Viel. The heartbeat of this group is built upon the unique sound of the gyil or the Ghanaian xylophone – skilfully played by Bex Burch, who spent no less than three years in Ghana in order to master the instrument. Vula Viel fused the sound to the minimalism of Steve Reich, jazz, and also postpunk. Their brand new album ‘What’s Not Enough About That’ will be out in early 2020.
