You’re now witnessing greatness!
Belgium-born with Congolese roots, Bonnet Sumo is stepping into a new chapter. Born in Vilvoorde and raised in Meise, he grew up surrounded by rhythm, culture, and the realities of street life. First introduced to the stage through a children’s choir, he later carved his identity in hip-hop, blending personal experience with sharp lyricism.
His earliest influences came from the golden era of 90s rap — listening to Mase, The Notorious B.I.G., just to name a few. But it was Foxy Brown who truly made him fall in love with hip-hop, her presence and delivery sparking the drive to create his own voice. Later, as he worked to sharpen his pen, he turned to Jay-Z. What once felt too rough to understand as a kid revealed itself over time as a masterclass in lyricism and craft. These influences shaped Bonnet Sumo’s sound: authentic, layered, and timeless.
Now, he’s reactivating his journey with a new project dropping mid-October and a four-date club tour. Not a comeback, but a continuation — Bonnet Sumo reconnects with his audience while bringing fresh energy to the stage, carrying both Belgium and Congo in his voice.
