“Few singers can match the delicate warmth and quiet power of Arooj Aftab’s voice.“
(The Guardian)
“Powerful, affecting and unlike anything else.”
(The Irish Times)
With the album Vulture Prince in 2021, Arooj Aftab made an artistic statement that stunned the international music world. It is therefore not often that jazz, South Asian classical music, blues and folk become the building blocks of a music career. The singer with Pakistani roots confirmed on Love In Exile, a pared-down and stretched album with Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily. At Bozar, Aftab will present her latest album Night Reign. Apart from the captivating features (James Francies, Moor Mother, Vijay Iyer, ...), she lets her rarefied voice guide her intuitively into the night. For her, night is a moment of reflection in which she gets to the essence of life. When night falls, you will no doubt fall for the vocality of Arooj Aftab.
