AB, Brussels, and hip hop form the ultimate trio that gets our vote in every election.
Last year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip hop, but this year too, there are exciting local and international hip hop acts lined up.
Check out the full Hip Hop calendar here.
Hip hop programmer Joyce Jenny Loir says this about the hip hop shows at AB:
"Public Enemy in November 2010, Lil' Kim in June 2001 and Kendrick Lamar in February 2013: Still bummed that you missed those artists at AB? Well, don’t make that mistake twice and check out our hiphop calendar. Cause our venue is the place to be for emerging talent and established names. From Uzi Freya to Blanco to Harry Mack… We’ve got it all, baby!"
12 FEB Bawo
Bawo, an emerging rapper who skillfully connects grime, garage, rap, and soul (plus a few other influences) in a way that feels fresh but still unmistakably West London.
23 FEB Blanco
From his roots in the London drill scene to his solo adventures incorporating a soulful mix of afroswing, baile funk and rap philosophies, Blanco is growing at a lightning pace.
13 MAR Uzi Freyja
Uzi Freyja rouses the crowds by mixing hip-hop vocals, punk fury and experimental electronic structures.
Her name is a statement of intent, associating a weapon of destruction (Uzi) with the Nordic goddess of love, war, fertility and sex (Freyja).
21 APR Harry Mack
Multi-talented artist and rapper Harry Mack is best known for his unique and amazing freestyle raps. He rose to fame when his Venice Beach Freestyle went viral, which then earned him opportunities to perform aside greats like Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Soulja Boy, Joey Bada$$, Tom Brady and NBA on TNT.
