According to annual tradition, AB Café/Resto will be supporting Kom Op Tegen Kanker's 1000 km this year too. No less than €52,140.68 was collected. That is almost €14,000 more than last year, when €38,267 was collected. This amount came about in various ways. There was sponsoring & donations, the sale of the AB Tote Bag, recuperation of the beaker deposits in AB, the sale of hotdogs during concerts, and the organisation of a breakfast for supporters in the hinterland of Tienen.
As well as that, there was also the sale of autographed photos taken by Alex Vanhee - of the likes of Triggerfinger, Clouseau, Selah Sue, Hooverphonic, Yevgueni, Das Pop, Arsenal, Tom Barman and Florence and the Machine.
Finally, the fifth edition of Kom Op Tegen Kanker's 1000 km will take place during the Ascension weekend. There will be more than 40 participants taking part, spread over 10 AB Café/Resto-teams. Aside from quite a few AB-employees and supporters, others who have signed up to join in are: Otto-Jan Ham, Jan Paternoster (Black Box Revelation), Klaas Delrue (Yevgueni), Stef Kamil Carlens (Zita Swoon), Sioen, Pieter-Jan De Smet, Rick De Leeuw, Jan Hautekiet and Mr. Paul (Triggerfinger). What's more, there will also be an entirely female team, and 2 participants dare to take on the entire 1000 kilometres, spread over 4 days.
Kom Op Tegen Kanker's 1000 km runs from Thursday 29 May until Sunday 1 June, in and around Mechelen. For more information: www.1000km.be
