Fusion of soul, pop, rock, chanson and electronic influences – from Paris to the world
In 2013, Yseult Marie Onguenet was discovered in the programme Nouvelle Star, the French version of Idol. Her first album with a major record company turned out to be a disappointment. Yseult broke her contract and set up her own shop. It was called Y.Y.Y. and released so-called Y-trap, a reflection of what she listens to daily: from Lizzo to Feu! Chatterton, from Cardi B and Damso to Tame Impala.
In 2024, she launched her project MENTAL, on her own label I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA. This 13 track album marked a bold musical turning point: a cry for help and an exploration of the eight primary emotions via various genres. MENTAL is a polarising, sexy and sweaty project that embodies the artist’s rebirth and reflects her complex, intriguing state of mind. As she herself describes it: “MENTAL is an artistic in-between phase that celebrates my character and embodies my transformation.”
Last year, she got to close the Olympic Games in Paris with a phenomenal version of Frank Sinatra’s My Way. Yseult is also the first French artist to take part in Tiny Desk in the United States, as well as appearing twice on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The song Alibi, a duet with Sevdaliza and Pabllo Vittar, made her the first French artist to make it into the Billboard Hot 100. She is now also the most listened-to French singer in the world.
Go ahead and come up with an alibi for your work or family obligations that evening, ‘cause this is a live show you don't want to miss!
