The trumpeter of Ezra Collective who effortlessly blends fuji and Afrobeat with jazz and hip-hop elements
Ifé Ogunjobi is a London-based, Grammy Award-winning trumpeter, composer and producer of Nigerian descent. Ife's debut EP, Stay True, released in 2023, showcases how he remains true to his roots and upbringing. He combines fuji and afrobeats influences from his Nigerian heritage with jazz and hip-hop elements that shaped his childhood in London.
We should be more like children, says the Nigerian trumpeter: fearless, carefree and confident in who we are. His new EP ‘Tell Them, I'm Here’ with deliciously sweet, deep soul jazz reflects his desire to achieve that state and continue to create without doubt, intellectual analysis or boundaries.
His style is so versatile that he can switch from a spiritual jazz solo to a dance floor-filling Afrobeat party in the blink of an eye. This has also led him to collaborate with many different artists in the studio, such as Wizkid on his album ‘More Love, Less Ego’ and Burna Boy on ‘I Told Them’, which reached number 1 in the United Kingdom.
Tell your friends, it's going to be a big party!
