Philly based alt-country rockers!
Founded in Philadelphia’s vibrant DIY scene and steeped in queer liberation, community spirit and perceptive poetry, Florry channels the free spirit of bands like Yo La Tengo, The Band and The Stones, with a modern alt-country twist.
Fresh from recording their acclaimed new album Sounds Like… in the Blue Ridge Mountains with producer Colin Miller (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday), Florry knew how to capture the raw charm of a road trip with your besties: honest, playful and deeply human.
Lead singer Francie Medosch is flanked live by Jon Cox (Sadurn, Son of Barb) on pedal steel guitar, John Murray on electric guitar, Colin Dennen on bass, Will Henrikson on violin, Katya Malison for vocals and Joey Sullivan on drums.
Pitchfork (8.0): “On its third album, the country-rock group rips through a set of free-spirited barnstormers with such ease and joy that even its tales of raw feelings and perpetual malaise feel uplifting.”
Stereogum (Album of the Week): “It’s the best Florry album by a wide margin, filled with smokin’, rambunctious country-rock as filtered through the minds of Philadelphia indie kids.”
Brooklyn Vegan: “This louder, more electrified version of Florry still manages to keep the shambolic charm of their last album intact, and the harder exterior is matched by their best songwriting yet. Florry came a long way in the last two years, having logged tours with veteran jam-friendly indie folkies like Kurt Vile and Real Estate, and it sounds to me like they've taken all that growth and funneled it into Sounds Like...Florry!”
