Double bill with 2 forerunners of the Belgian acoustic-experimental scene

As a result of the extra measures announced on Friday 30/10 by the Government, AB will close its doors until the end of December 2020.

We are very concerned about the situation and do not want to challenge the new measures. We understand that the alarming corona numbers come with drastic measures. It is obvious that our activities must also give way to public health at a certain point in time.

All concerts until the end of December 2020 will be suspended and rescheduled where possible. We have mobilized the entire team and are working hard to find the best solution for each event. Individual concerts may be postponed or canceled. If a concert is postponed, any tickets purchased will be valid for the rescheduled date. If a concert is canceled, all tickets will be automatically refunded

We are closely monitoring the situation and communicating any updates ASAP through our website. All buyers will be informed about changes to their event through email.

We would ask everyone to refrain from calling or e-mailing us for further updates. Please check our website for the latest information on your concert.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your understanding and patience, and wish everyone love in the time of Corona.

Due to COVID-19, this concert is going to be an 'ABnormal concert'.

During these concerts, wearing a mask is mandatory and only bubbles of 1 and 2 people can be seated. What if you want to come with 3 people? You buy I duo bubble and 1 solo bubble. One of your friends will be sitting alone on the balcony. Same goes for all odd numbers.

Brussels combo Razen has been around for 10 years this year and recently released yet another new album. Two weeks after the declaration of the lockdown, ‘Robot Brujo’ was released on France’s Hands In The Dark label. It was the ideal soundtrack for these (post-)corona times.

The double CD contains six improvisation pieces in which the band – this time as trio with Kim Delcour on (bagpipe-)flute, Brecht Ameel on string instruments and David Poltrock on (sequenced) synths and electronica – achieves maximal effect with a limited sound pallet and minimal variations in timing, articulation and timbre.

The band has now attained a unique status in the experimental improvisation scene and anyone who has ever seen them live knows that a concert in the AB’s Main Hall will be an unrivalled experience that continues to resonate in every fibre of your being long thereafter.

"Razen push the drone potential of medieval instruments like hurdy gurdy as well as shawm and recorders… into realms of total sensory overload" (David Keenan / Volcanic Tongue)

Kaboom Karavan
After a six year silence, Kaboom Karavan – Bram Bosteels’s experimental acoustic-folk-from-another-dimension-project – are to release a new album on Berlin’s impressive Miasmah label on July 17. Together with Stefaan Smagghe (violin) and Liesbeth Marit (electronics), Bosteels creates a unique world of sound that completely draws the listener in.

Erik K Skodvin aka Svarte Greiner – one half of Deaf Center and Miasmah label boss – about the album: "All the sounds, fabrics, instrumentation and stories that binds The Log and the Leeway together go far beyond what can be touched up in this simple writeup. As someone who have followed this journey since the beginning, and seen it shift from lighthearted fun to the most crepuscular personal experience, heard the stories behind (almost) every field recording and gone through boundless amounts of clips, visual details, notes, and inspirations – I can only say that it is with great pleasure and certain nostalgia I can present this record in full through Miasmah and close this quite extraordinary chapter. Bram is without doubt the most fascinating person I know. Like I told him in April 2020 during a trying time: “If everything fails, we´ll open a Kaboom Karavan museum”.
