KRAAK and AB join forces again, in the newly renovated AB Salon, for a double programme featuring two living legends. Erica Dawn Lyle and Greg Malcolm hail from opposite shores of the sonic ocean but they come together on stage in Brussels for two sets brimming with impressive guitar magic. Both artists tune, play, and manipulate the instrument in a daring and distinctive way.
 
Erica Dawn Lyle
 
Erica Dawn Lyle, who splits her time between New York and Los Angeles, is a writer, curator, experimental musician and cultural catalyst. As former tour-guitarist with Bikini Kill, Lyle has released musical collaborations as a solo artist with Kim Gordon, The Raincoats, Bernadette Mayer, Kathleen Hanna, Kim Deal and Brontez Purnell. 
 
She is also a part of the activist free-jazz duo MYKAWARA, together with drummer Marshall Trammell. Lyle is the author of Streetopia (Booklyn, 2015) and writes for the likes of Artforum, Art in America and Frieze. Her most recent book release is the chapbook The Knight of Cups (Beladonna Press, 2023). Her latest album, On Fire, was released in October 2025 via Feeding Tube and Half A Million Records.
 
Greg Malcolm
 
With one guitar in his hands and two others at his feet, surrounded by springs, resonators, knives, stringed bows and all sorts of objects that vibrate snares and bring their resonances to life, Greg Malcolm makes use of a constantly changing arsenal of materials and a rich palette of timbres. In this way, he creates a hypnotic form of music, established around the repetition of fleeting melodies that bathe in acoustic drones.
 
New Zealander Malcolm believes that every sound follows a precise movement and is as much shaped by the material used as by the instrument itself. His musical universe is located somewhere between blues, minimalistic repetitive music and approach to prepared guitar inspired by John Cage. It evokes both the vastness of the desert and the jolting rhythm of a dirt road.
