Surprising new album bursting with angular funk and bouncing disco pop
Over the past two decades, Dez Mona has never ceased to surprise audiences. Less than a year after 'Lucy', a 'worldly oratorio' in collaboration with Antwerp's Baroque Orchestration X, singer Gregory Frateur and his companions are now knocking on the door with the cosmopolitan 'Loose Ends'. The group's ninth full-length album often alternates angular funk with bouncing disco pop. After the dark ballads from our previous project, we consciously chose to make an upbeat, straightforward record', says Frateur. This time I didn't want to exhaust myself with metaphors: the lyrics should be simple and 'in your face'.
BLACK LILYS is a French sibling duo. They produce bright timeless pop music that balances both strength and vulnerability, a smooth blend between Robin’s driving guitar melodies and Camille’s effortless, raspy vocals. They offer a strikingly unique sound with organic tones reminiscent of the work of Angus and Julia Stone, The XX or Aurora. In 2018, after winning the prestigious national award, "La bourse Lagardère", they recorded their first album, BOXES. Following the release, Netflix featured one of their songs Nightfall in their series Elite. Today the song reached over 2.000.000 streams. Over the years, they shared stages with CHRIS GARNEAU, THE DØ, PETE DOHERTY, GEORGE EZRA, ZAZ and POMME who invited them on her tour, finishing at the Olympia last September. Their forthcoming album NEW ERA, mixed by Odd Martin (known for his collaborations with AURORA and SIGRID) was written in Scotland, where the siblings had decided to isolate themselves. Inspired by the Highlands and the rainy days, they started to produce their new songs in Edinburgh, where Camille currently lives, before finishing the recording process by the French mountains last winter. "NEW ERA" will be released in 2022.
