Singer songwriter Josh Edwards combines flamenco, bailecito and cueca
Since his last visit to Belgium in November 2023, Blanco White's magic has continued to work wonders. He completely bewitched his Belgian fans with ‘Tarifa’, his second studio album, and his music blending Hispanic sweetness and Anglo-Saxon elegance. The young Londoner is now announcing his return to the Old Continent in early 2025, with new material and, above all, a visit to Brussels, where he will be stopping off at the AB on 4 February.
Behind the stage name Blanco White lies London folk songwriter Josh Edwards. And if the singer has left the coldness of his native England, it's to better warm our hearts. A lover of unfamiliar landscapes, Edwards has gone off to shape his art in the direction of Spanish flamenco, Argentine bailecito and Chilean cueca. It was under this pseudonym that, in early 2016, Josh decided to release ‘November Rain’, his first single, followed by ‘The Wind Rose’, his first EP. It was an instant success, and he racked up the listens with two more EPs in 2017 and 2018. His debut album, ‘On The Other Side’, was released in 2020, and features eleven of the most touching tracks ever, a mix of moving, intimate indie folk ballads and dreamy melodies reminiscent of the ethereal worlds of Eddie Vedder, Ben Howard, RY X and Xavier Rudd. The artist hits the nail on the head, his sensitivity uniting souls and taking us on exciting timeless journeys. ‘Tarifa’, his second album, will be released in September 2023, confirming his immense talent. reflecting an endearing personality whose poetic wanderings radiate a soothing, benevolent warmth. It's definitely hard not to fall for Blanco White's singularly soothing universe. Don't hesitate to come and see him at the AB on 4 February!
