Last Thursday, the Youth l’AB team attended the 15th edition of Brussel Brost, the ultimate student festival to kick off the academic year. This year, AB’s team of youngsters had the opportunity to curate the line-up for the Stoemp Stage.
What is Youth l’AB?
If you don’t know already, Youth l’AB consists of 10 young people who are passionate about events and music. Once a year, they curate and organise an event to conclude a year-long journey with AB where they learn the ins and outs of the music industry.
Curating the perfect line-up
For Brussel Brost, the team collaborated with Stoemp! and VI.BE to curate their line-up for a stage at Reset. On the day itself, each one of the Youth l’AB members had to handle various tasks, ranging from stagehands to content creation. Preparing for such a big event was a great opportunity for the team to understand how a small festival is managed from start to finish, and to practice for Sonart at AB Club on October 26.
The team’s challenge was to put together a line-up that made sense and got people excited to party. Jessica Bouhez kicked things off, followed by Fred Gata and Alex Lesage. The evening continued with Echofarmer, and the French artist Zonmai closed the night with incredible energy.
Teamwork behind the scenes
The Stoemp! stage was located at Reset, an old bank building transformed into a temporary music venue. The Youth l’AB team was buzzing with excitement all day long as they fulfilled their assigned roles. Furio, Chloé and Asante started their day being hospitality hosts for the artists, while Elin, Rayan and Mika were busy carrying heavy pianos, cables and mics.
At 4 p.m., the concerts began and Rayan, our host for the evening, took care to introduce each artist before their appearance on stage. After that, it was time to share the buzz on our social media channels. Myriam and Furio went to all four corners of the festival to film a vlog, create Instagram stories and, along with Chloé, interviewed nearly every artist from the Stoemp! stage after their performances. They learned a lot about the artists, who they are, and about their diverse ambitions and backgrounds.
A job well done
The team is incredibly proud of this year's line-up, which was musically and culturally diverse, perfectly matching the atmosphere of the Reset venue. Despite being a first-time experience for many, everything went smoothly, and the collaboration between team members was seamless. Thanks to great teamwork, the event kicked off and ended flawlessly.
