Come discover these gems on the AB Club programme: from Bien-Aimé Baraza to Porcelain id.
In March and April, there are once again impressive names on the programme in our club. The following gems are definitely worth discovering:
12 March: Bien-Aimé Baraza
Afropop at its best! Bien-AimĂ© Baraza, aka Bien, is no rookie... the Grammy Award winning songwriter and celebrated Kenyan singer â who you may know from boyband Sauti Sol â has already made his mark on the music industry. After the triumph of his first solo EP in 2021, titled 'Bald Men Love Better' â on which he delivered the summer hit of the year with 'Mbwe Mbwe' â Bien continued to create furore with subsequent hits, including 'Too Easy' and 'Inauma'.
The meteoric rise of his solo career is unprecedented, with a staggering 60 million views on Tik Tok and super successful streaming. He comes to launch his long-awaited debut solo album 'Alusa: Why Are You Topless?' in our club. Dancing and good vibes guaranteed. Tu sais BIEN!
31 March: Rosa Butsi & Noa Lee Â
Another one not to be missed: on March 31, Rosa Butsi and Noa Lee â two great indie-poppers / singer-songwriters â come to introduce their debut.
Rosa Butsiâs music sounds timeless and warm. She creates her very own soulful, dreamy sound and with âFruitful Daysâ she presents a powerful debut that feels deeply human and personal.
Noa Lee is the band encompassing songwriter, singer and keyboard player Nina Kortekaas. Their ambitious debut album, âAirshipâ, reveals what the band has to offer: a stunning mix of indie-pop, dreaminess and experiment.
12 April: LYNNÂ
A fan of Lous and the Yakuza, Lianne La Havas or Swing? Then you definitely need to check out LYNN! With her soul, bossa and R&B sound, she immerses us in her doubts, her shame, her intimacy. Her French- and English-language music is a heartfelt emotional search for herself. On April 12, she comes to the club to launch her latest project: â3x5â.
15 April: Priya RaguÂ
A fan of Jorja Smith, Juicy or Sudan Archives? Meet Priya Ragu: a Swiss singer with Sri Lankan roots who fuses traditional Southern Asian rhythms with uplifting, contemporary R&B and soul. She immediately set the tone with her first two singles, âGood Love 2.0â and âChicken Lemon Riceâ (odes to life), as Priya Ragu is all about spirituality & empowerment. You could also hear that on her long-waited debut album damnshestamil, an album that lifted her unique âraguwavyâ sound â R&B, soulful vocals, dance beats and melodies from Tamil music â to a higher level. She recently released the album Santhosam, yet another stunner... She already appeared in our AB Club a couple of years ago, but she's back, and she's even better!
21 April: Porcelain id
The 25-year-old Hubert Tuyishime (they/them/their), aka Porcelain id, has emerged as one of the most promising talents on the Belgian scene in recent years. Classic pop, soul and lo-fi electronica come together in their vulnerable, authentic songs. For the long-awaited debut album âBibi:1â, released on February 16, Porcelain id took inspiration from their move from a quiet village to the city. As they themself say: âBibi:1 constantly seeks contrasts. Between folk and electronic music, between brutal and fragile, between poppy and confusing. Nothing wrong with challenging the listener a little, right?â (De Morgen). We certainly canât wait to face the challenge live on April 21!
