They do still exist in the year 2014: independent record labels with a totally clear-cut musical identity. Precisely due to the strong-minded and determined course they sail, they are often the ones to prepare the way for what will later become iconic styles in (pop) music. Innovators that take the standard formulas – in which (pop) music is often trapped – and provide new impulses, take off the rough edges, or even radically rework them. It’s A Family Affair puts those labels in the spotlight.
