Boterhammen in het Park and Feeërieën involves more than just enjoying fine music, tasty sandwiches and fairy-tale setting in the Warande Park in Brussels. AB also provides a number of peripheral activities ranging from child-friendly entertainment, organised walking tours, a mobile concert hall, philanthropic partners and cinema meets internet meets electronic noise with The Sedan Vault.
Boterhammen In Het Park, with additional child-friendly entertainment and a philanthropic partner this year too.
Just as every year, there is more than the purely musical aspect. This year there is also room for NINNA OH, that fine, euh, delightfully sleep-inducing project by Bas Bogaerts and Eva Schampaert in collaboration with Heritage Section Brussels. For this project they headed off around the Mediterranean on a motorbike, stopped and slept where they were welcome and meanwhile recorded (almost forgotten) local lullabies. The result is already a wonderfully beautiful book and CD from publisher Lannoo (with collaboration from Gorki, Kommil Foo, Sarah Bettens, Neeka, Isbells, The Golden Glows, Spinvis, Jan De Smet...) Now also present in the Warande Park during the Boterhammen-afternoons and Feeërieën-evenings 2010 ! www.slaapkindjeslaap.be
Also, just as in the past there was room for the Braille Association, Bon, Het Punt, Music Fund... to throw light upon their good work, this year BRUCOVO has the opportunity to let us see what they stand for. In a nutshell: Brussels Consortium for Adult Education, so its a part of CVO, and so if you're thinking: 'I really can't keep up any more' or 'I didn't study for long enough' then here is most likely a great opportunity for keen further study, courses and training that can be useful for everyone aged 18 and over www.brucovo.be.
In combination with the free concerts of Boterhammen in het Park, vtbKultuur gives you the opportunity to 'do brussels' for an entire day... with a visit to the Council of the Flemish-speaking Community in the morning and a cartoon walking-tour through Brussels in the afternoon.
You can also enjoy additional activities at the Feeërieën too.
There are the LIAISONS IN THE PARK, also by vtbKultuur, to guide you to surprising spots in and around the Warande Park. Your date is at 7pm at the vtbKultuur stand near the bandstand. Participation is free of charge but it's best to make a reservation via 03/224.10.52 or www.vtbkultuur.be
On Wednesday 25 August there is a fine warm-up to the evening's concerts: Following on from their album ‘Vanguard’, our Artist In Residence THE SEDAN VAULT now presents an e-novel, a website with a sort of digital short story about the album's lyrics. Designer Dave Decat (Carhartt) provided the original album sleeve, photographer Danny Willems did the video clip and digital graphic designer Criticus Design has now created this final piece on the internet. He has animated the rise and fall of a gang of arsonists, in a sober, monochrome style. The Sedan Vault will present the soundtrack live: cinema meets internet meets electronic noise. 2 shows of 18 minutes duration (at 7:00 pm and 7:45 pm) that will take place in Cinematek, Baron Hortastraat 9, 1000 Brussel. Admittance is free of charge but you are obliged to make a reservation via info@abconcerts.be (please note: the capacity is limited to 117 persons, so be quick).
Het Festival van Vlaanderen Brussel will also provide an extra offering as part of Boterhammen in het Park and Feeërieën. Because classical music can enchant all sorts of people. Het Festival van Vlaanderen Brussel presents classical music in places where its not often played via ‘Festival ON TOUR’. In no small way either... With a truck full of music! The concept is extremely simple: a container truck is converted into a cosy mobile concert hall. You sit down for 20 minutes, enjoy a little classical music and briefly take a dip in a new world… Why ever not?
With Alexander Makay, a Flemish ‘Bach’-guitarist with Hungarian roots.
When? Tuesday 24 August before and after Boterhammen in het Park & Tuesday 24 August before the Feeërieën.
Where? Warande Park, Koningstraat entrance!
