Start Making Sense is an exclusive compilation album featuring contributions from no fewer than 60 Belgian artists, each donating a song to raise funds for HOPE Foundation. This charitable organization works with artists and educators to help children suffering from the devastating effects of the war in Gaza.
The album showcases a blend of artists and genres, you can find the full list of participating artists here. All proceeds from the album go directly and entirely to the HOPE Foundation and their Cultural Emergency Fund. In addition to psychosocial and artistic initiatives, this fund supports humanitarian aid such as food, water, clothing, and hygiene supplies, including the construction of ovens in camps. HOPE Foundation’s mission is to empower children in conflict zones to build meaningful lives for themselves.
Start Making Sense is a creative and collective action to draw sustained attention to this seemingly hopeless situation—without succumbing to cynicism. Together with artists and music lovers, we can raise vital donations and foster hope for all those impacted by this terrible conflict. The album is available exclusively as a digital download for €21 or more via this link.
For the album cover, Ramy Moharam Fouad donated an image, while the graphic design was contributed by Lise Leën and promotional efforts by Les Fabuleux and Gelezen en goedgekeurd!
The project was initiated by Laurens Mariën, who received spontaneous support from a group of sympathizers, including Astrid De Sterck, Ward Dewulf, Tine Deboelpaep, Pieter-Jan Decraene, Sibylle Tilliard, Tijs Delbeke, and Elisabeth Van Lierop. Special thanks to Isadora Lenaerts and all the managers, labels, agents, mixers, mastering engineers, and musicians involved in the album!
