Last Belgian Club Show of the Grande Dame of Belgian alt-rock
Trixie Whitley has just completed a highly successful tour to present and celebrate her new EP 'The Dragon of Everything'. It's the first proper new album for five years, and the collaboration with Josh Kaufman (The National, The War On Drugs, Bob Weir) paid immediate dividends: the single 'High Wire' sounds wonderfully dark and virtuosic in a way that only Trixie can, and the tour was quickly given the green light to sell out. Due to the high demand for tickets, Trixie is adding an extra concert as an apotheosis: she will play in duet with Bert Cools for the last time at the Ancienne Belgique on 2 April 2025. Intimate but intense, it's the perfect way to see Trixie Whitley.
The multi-talented Trixie Whitley is haunting and raw on stage. She was born in Ghent, but grew up in the music studios of New York. To say that art and music were instilled in her is a huge understatement. Since the age of three, Trixie has taken to the stage as a musician, singer, dancer and DJ. She has worked with such greats as Daniel Lanois (with whom she also played in the group Black Dub), Robert Plant, Marianne Faithfull and Wim Vandekeybus. Trixie Whitley constantly challenges herself, but never loses sight of her purity as an artist.
Brussels based, Volta affiliated, Laryssa Kim is an Italo-Congolese singer and composer with an arresting set of influences. Her first forays into music took place in Rome, writing and performing with reg-ae musicians and DJs. She relocated to Amsterdam in 2008 and immersed herself in contemporary dance and physical theatre,
in Brussels Laryssa went on to formally pursue her interest in electroacoustics & acousmatic music composition.
The landscape of Laryssa Kim’s music is impassioned and mesmerizing. Employing her voice as her central instrument, hypnotic swells of elegant lyrical forms are scattered around finely braided electronics and instrumental motifs that gather into tender song structures.
Her live show integrates lighting and video projections that create an intriguing blend of live music and performance art. In parallel with her solo project, she is active as a composer for dance, theatre and video, with up-coming commissions for productions with KVS, Viernulvier (ex Vooruit), Kaaitheater, deSingel,…
