LUCAS SANTTANA is a brillant Brazilian singer-guitarist. Now on to his eighth CD: 'O Céu é Velho Há Muito Tempo' and this time he resolutely combines things like protest against president Bolsonaro with the most subtle of music. That resounds in the best Tropicália or bossa nova traditions from around the sixties, but then in an intensely relevant way.
For fans of Caetano Veloso, Elis Regina, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, Céu, Marisa Monte... Antoine Lavoisier...
In the press Les Inrocks hoorde hier 'le fils spirituel de João Gilberto.'
The Financial Times: 'An album that takes precise aim at the goverment, reviving the Topicalia movement against technicolour instrumentation.'
Alvast ook goedgekeurd door Gilles Peterson of Radio Nova in onze buurlanden.
AB fun fact First time in the ABClub was October 2012!
Fun fact For the Brazilian lesson: this latest album title can best be translated as 'heaven is long old.'
