Oh La La La… after 70 years, we already know: Arno, our idol from Ostend celebrates his birthday on May 21. This year with a fresh single as gift for 'le plus beau': 'Oostende Bonsoir', a fearless foretaste of the new CD 'Santeboutique', out on Pias.
For the young folks who, Putain Putain, don’t (yet) know this pedigree performer: Arno has been a provider of the most original euro-blues-rock for a half century now. Under his own name but also with the groundbreaking T.C. Matic (or the more recent rougher variant Tjens Matic) up to and including Charles et Les Lulus or The Subrovnicks. Aside from that, with room too for the most touching chansons – often 'à la française' as well – that he was even honoured for in France as 'Sir Arno' (and in the meantime he has also become an Honorary Citizen of his current hometown, Brussels.)
For fans of Hits/catchy tracks like Vive ma liberté, Bathroom Singer, Les filles du Bord de mer, Les yeux de ma mère, Chic et pas cher, Je veux nager, Mourir à plusieurs, Elle pense quand elle danse, The Show of Life....
AB fun fact We’ve really lost count, all in all he’s probably visited as often as his age? He also drops by sometimes for a Brussels Volksfestival or a Radio 1 Belpop Session, you see.
Fun fact Not been seen on a bicycle to date, but there is a famous photo with Eddy Merckx and he seriously supports Kom Op Tegen Kanker, including with his 'own' wine under the Château Oh La La La label.
