DESCRIPTION:Double concerts would seem to be the AB-trend of ’09!\nFollowing on from Bloc Party\, the farewell concerts of El\nTattoo Del Tigre\, and Arsenal\, now Jef Neve is in AB with\na double concert too. After his blatantly impressive visit\nas 'backing band' to José James (still etched in\nour memory as a musical topper of ’08) Neve is now ready\nto preserve his Groove Thing project for future generations\nand will record a live-album via the in-house AB-studio.\nGroove Thing is still fulcrum Jef Neve (this time not on\npiano but on Hammond organ) and saxophonist Nicolas Kummert.\nAside from these impassioned jazz musicians the other half\nof this quartet consists of Nicolas Thys (bass) and current\nNew York-resident Lieven Venken on drums. Together:\n(musically) Groove Thing feels very strongly about the terms\nfunky and groovy. On the programme: mainly their own work\,\nbut also a few jazz standards… Just a final warning from\nGroove Thing – who\, by the way\, also made quite an\nimpression at the last edition of Jazz Middelheim-\nthemselves: "Dancing is not forbidden\, wiggling might\nbe unavoidable!". It has been noted.P.S.: In the\nmeantime\, try to practise professionally and\nenthusiastically clapping at home\, as every hand-clap will\nbe meticulously recorded and\, in its entirety\, end up on\nthe first Groove Thing live-album.
